You've Come A Long Way Baby

Listening recently to a gentleman of advanced age speaking about himself as "slow" and "stupid" I watched silently and wondered. Watching the event unfold was a fascinating play of the irrevocable laws of the universe. As the man spoke a change occurred in the people surrounding him. They began to contradict this man’s professional exterior that silently appeared together and professional and worthy of respect and began treating him like a child that needed to be pampered and coddled. He was being treated with kindness but in a manner inappropriate for a man who had the exterior of an old wise person. So I sat there and wondered was this man who called himself stupid and slow really acting this way to get attention and information he would otherwise not receive; or was he in fact creating and reinforcing the “fact” that he is indeed stupid.

I began to believe the latter. As I watched the man asking questions it was clear that he was not really stupid. He formed correct sentences and had some good questions but each one was prefaced with “I know this is a stupid question”.

I watched the supportive demeanor and initial care for the man in the faces and voices of the people in the room turn to doubt, true concern and in some cases downright frustration. Whatever it was he was doing whether out of some need to be eccentric or actual belief of ineptitude was getting him right back what he put out.

The more he said he was stupid, did not understand or asked impatiently for the presenters to slow down, repeat or reiterate what they were saying the more the feeling in the room screamed silently…man this guy is dumb!

The law of attraction is all-inclusive. You cannot get what you don’t want by focusing on it and trying to make it go away. You simply have to focus on what you want and forget about what you don’t want. Only by ignoring or turning the other cheek to what you want to avoid will get you what you really want. Focus on what you want and let it come. This is the simple power of attraction that creates your world.

Now only if Mr. Stupid could realize this fact. He could use what he really wanted and expected to break the holding pattern of “dumb” that he created.

I hope he gets to read this and makes a more empowering choice.
