An Easy Technique For Grounding Your Energy

Have you ever heard the expression someone is “down to earth”? Or someone say that they feel "ungrounded"? Both are addressing the energy we each have running through us. Sometimes we feel “connected” and sometimes we don’t. Have you ever wondered what that’s all about? Our Western society doesn’t do a very good job of teaching us about grounding. But grounding and un-grounding is something we do naturally, every day.

An example of being grounded would be when you hear a loud, sudden noise, but you don’t jump or flinch. Another example of grounding is when you feel safe and calm. Your energy is in a natural state of grounding in both situations. An enlightened person is in this state of grounding most, if not all, of the time. Grounding is the state necessary for high-level manifesting. Every successful person grounds their energy at key times, whether they are conscious of it or not.

An example of being ungrounded would be when you hear a loud, sudden noise and you jump about a mile. Another example of ungroundedness is when you feel jittery and/or afraid. It is also the “fight or flight” mechanism, and not a good space to make big decisions from. A person who is in fear is not going to be effectively grounding his or her energy, and therefore, it’s easier to make “bad” decisions.

The good news is you can control your grounding energy. All it takes is intent, but many find a good grounding technique helpful.

Grounding Technique
Take a deep breath. Put your feet flat on the floor (you can be standing or sitting). Imagine and pretend that your feet grow roots and they begin to extend down to the center of the earth. Imagine that you can feel the energy flow from the center and top of your head, down through your spine, down through both legs, and out the bottoms of your feet, through the roots that are now at the center of the earth. Imagine the grounding roots firmly planting at the center of the earth.

Notice how your body feels right now because of the grounding energy. You might feel a tingling sensation, or you might feel warmer, or cooler. You might feel your blood circulating throughout your body. The bottoms of your feet and/or your palms might be tingling. Just notice what it is you feel from this grounding energy you are purposely running. Imagine that the energy spreads out from your spine, the central energy channel, all the way to every cell in your body. Feel the support that this grounding energy gives to you.

That’s It!
You can keep it running now and simply go about your day, or go to sleep, or do anything else. You might notice you feel calmer and more relaxed. Grounding your energy gives you a natural calm and centered feeling.

Grounding is natural, but better yet, it is a useful tool. If you ever feel uncertain or uncomfortable, you can remember your grounding exercise and it will certainly help. For an excellent recorded grounding meditation, follow this link.
